Course Outline

This course is for students with an interest in art and design.

You will explore a range of techniques and approaches to graphic design including illustration, packaging design, advertising, photography and typography. You will develop your skills in both non-digital (sketching, hand lettering, printing) and digital (scanning, Photoshop, digital manipulation) techniques. The course covers a range of activities and in-depth assignments. For each piece of work, you will be encouraged to develop ideas, experiment, record what you have done and present your work effectively.

Entry Requirements

6 GCSEs Grade C including Mathematics and English as well as a grade A*-B in Art or Graphic Design.

Assessment

The course is assessed both through a portfolio/course work and an exam based assignment. There will be an end of course exhibition at the host school in June.

Progression

This course leads to related degree courses at university such as graphics, architecture, art, technology. It is a great qualification to help land a job in a related field.
