Course Outline

This is a full time, one year practical, work related course. You complete projects based on realistic workplace situations.

The qualification aims to help prepare you for entry into initial employment or further study by enhancing your personal skills, building your individual confidence, and giving you a broad introduction to the health and social care sector. The programme of study will develop your understanding of the relevant practical skills and knowledge needed in this field of work.

The course will open up a variety of potential subjects to you, including health and the environment, looking after children, social responsibility at work or exploring local services.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs, Grade E-G.

Assessment

100% coursework.

Progression

By successfully undertaking the BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care you should acquire increased self reliance and an awareness of the vocational skills needed in the health and social care sector.

You may wish to further your personal development and your employability by undertaking another BTEC qualification in a vocational area that interests you. You could then progress to A-level 2 course such as a BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care, or work towards an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in a specific area of skills, especially if you would be working in a related area.
