Course Outline

18 Units - equivalent to 3 A Levels

Students taking this course will gain experience and knowledge of Dance and Drama and have the opportunity to develop skills in singing, a variety of dance styles, music performance and technology, acting and movement as well as production skills in sound, lighting, and video.

You will take part in productions which involve:  Music, drama and dance and which may take place within IC6 or in theatres and arts venues around Islington. You will have the opportunity to take workshop sessions with a range of professionals including: - Theatre companies, directors, writers, administrators and technical staff. Students will also complete a block of work experience at a venue or with a company in the performance area that interests you.

Entry Requirements

You will need 5 GCSE Grade C including English and Mathematics and/or equivalent BTEC First Certificate/Diploma in a relevant area relevant experience at a Merit grade. A high level of interest and ability is needed. An interview and audition also required.

Assessment

Course work and practical assessment throughout the two years.

Progression

The Diploma can provide a basis for progression to higher education and further arts related qualifications or employment in such areas as, technical theatre work, community arts, studio work, arts administration and performance.
