BTEC National Extended Diploma L3 in Sport

Course Outline
18 units - equivalent to 3 A Levels
We offer the BTEC National Sport in three of our four schools. Each school offers a slightly different pathway and combination of units. Some are aligned to major sports and allow students the opportunity to specialise in that field. Highbury Grove’s new course is in partnership with their new Cricket Academy and St Aloysius’ College offers two pathways for students wishing to specialise in Football and Basketball. The Football course is delivered in collaboration with Arsenal FC, the Basketball course in collaboration with Islington Panthers Basketball club.
Regardless of which Sports BTEC you choose you will in addition to the academic units, have the opportunity to improve your performance within an array of sports including football, netball, basketball, athletics, tennis, table tennis, badminton and a range of other sports. You will also complete a two week work placement and may have the opportunity to go skiing for one week. Previous trips have included the French Alps and Italy.

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grades A*-C including English.
Assessment
Assessment is continuous throughout the year. You will be assessed through written assignments, presentations, tests and practical work.
Progression
Many students go on to study a variety of specialist sport degrees in higher education whilst others find employment within the health/fitness industry as fitness instructors and coaching.
