Course Outline

The GCSE Mathematics course offers students another chance to obtain a GCSE Grade C qualification in Mathematics that is widely required by employers and an essential part of the matriculation requirements for higher education. It is also an entry requirement for many AS Level and Level 3 vocational courses at IC6 and elsewhere.

Students will undertake the higher tier exam in which Grades D-A* are awarded.

As the main focus of this course is to allow pupils to achieve a C Grade its content will primarily be D and C grade mathematics. There will be an expectation that all students will carry out a considerable amount of work at home through set homework tasks and general revision.

Entry Requirements

At least Grade D at GCSE Mathematics.

Assessment

Assessment is by two final written examinations, possible sessions will be in November 2011, March 2012 and June 2012 (though this session will cover the a new syllabus containing aspects of Functional Mathematics).
