IC6 Admissions Policy

Admissions Policy for Islington Sixth Form Consortium (IC6)
Applications for admission to IC6 are welcomed from all students who either currently attend one of the four IC6 partner schools and wish to continue their education at IC6, or from those students attending an external school and who wish to join IC6.
In the event of over-subscription on a particular subject or course, priority is given to students who fulfill the entry criteria and are from the four IC6 partner schools: Central Foundation Boys' School, Highbury Fields School, Highbury Grove School and St Aloysius' College.
IC6 Admissions Procedure
All students applying to IC6 are advised to consult with their tutor, Head of Year, careers teacher, Connexions advisor and/or member of staff responsible for liaison with IC6.
IC6 Admission Criteria
All offers of a place will be made on condition of applicants meeting the following IC6 entry requirements:
- achievement of the minimum grade entry requirements specified by the subject of choice (please see Courses for details)
- receipt of a supportive reference from the applicant's school confirming suitability for study of the preferred subject and level choice
- receipt of completed application form
- satisfactory completion of Year 11
- attendance at enrolment/induction events.
Students from IC6 Partner Schools
Application forms and copies of the IC6 prospectus will be delivered to IC6 partner schools during the Autumn term for distribution to Year 11. Application forms are inside the IC6 prospectus and are also available to download.
Completed application forms should be submitted by the third Friday in January to ensure a guaranteed place. Students from IC6 partner schools who apply after this deadline will be considered alongside external applicants.
IC6 partner school students whose applications have been received by the January deadline will attend a meeting at their school in late January/early February to discuss their chosen learning pathway and ongoing studies within IC6. Students will be notified by letter of the meeting date. Parents/guardians are encouraged to accompany students to the meeting.
Places will be offered for specific programmes of study and all offers will be made on condition of applicants meeting IC6's entry requirements above.
External applicants
Applications to IC6 from external candidates are most welcome. Application forms are inside the IC6 prospectus and are also available to download. Students wishing to apply for a place at IC6 can obtain a copy of the IC6 prospectus by contacting admissions@ic6.co.uk or phoning 020 7017 3040. External applicants and their parents/guardians will be warmly welcomed at the IC6 Open Evening on Monday 17th October 2011 at the Emirates Stadium, where IC6 staff will be available to discuss learning options and copies of the prospectus will also be available.
Completed application forms can be submitted anytime after 14th October 2011 and before the deadline for applications on Friday 27 January 2012. We encourage students to apply as early as possible to secure a place on the course of their choice. Applications received after this date will be considered but where popular courses are full applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
Suitable applicants will be invited by letter to attend a meeting on a specified date to discuss their application and parents/guardians are encouraged to accompany their son/daughter. Following the meeting a letter will be sent to the applicant within two weeks confirming the decision regarding a place at IC6.
Places will be offered to applicants for specific programmes of study and all offers will be made on condition of applicants meeting IC6's specified entry requirements above.
Suitable applicants who apply after the January deadline will still be invited to a meeting to discuss their application. We will notify you when this will be within one month of IC6 receiving the application, and applicants will be informed of the outcome within one working week of the meeting taking place.
It should be noted that the curricular offer is subject to the availability of specialist staff at the start of the academic year and sufficient numbers enrolled on the subject/course.
