Life after IC6

Life after IC6
Pick the best careers and universities...
The process of making higher education applications through UCAS will be an integrated and fundamental part of your Level 3 student life at IC6.
We aim to raise awareness and aspiration early on by offering Year 11 students attending IC6 partner schools the opportunity to participate in a university visit – this year a group of 80+ students visited Corpus Christi College at Cambridge University – and attend presentations delivered by University representatives on different aspects of university life.
Your sixth form tutor, the careers team and your Head of Sixth Form will work with you to help you with your application and personal statement and ensure you choose the right course and university.
Additionally we provide a range of workshops and presentations delivered by University representatives throughout the year on different aspects of applying to Higher Education, personal statements, student finance, applying for Oxbridge or Russell Group universities. We also have well developed industry and business links with companies such as the international law firm Slaughter and May who provide volunteer mentors to mentor students through the UCAS process advising them on what employers are looking for.
The highlights of the IC6 Higher Education timetable are a Higher Education and Careers event held in February when representatives from over 30 Universities will visit IC6 to speak to students about all aspects of Higher Education and career choice and a week-long programme at the end of Year 12 designed to kick-start your application process.
For those students who want to move straight into employment and apprenticeships, we have careers teams and focused tutorials to help ensure you make the right choice and are best prepared to take the first step in your career.
